Overview: What is skilled migration for Australia?
Australia skilled migration is a program that allows specific experience skilled or trade workers (depending on the demand for your occupation) to move to Australia temporarily or permanently. This is to fill up the gap in the positions in Australia when there is a lack of Australians with the occupation. There are various Australia Work Visa available and the applicant must meet the requirements of the skilled visa and pass the points test to qualify.General Requirements of Australia Skilled Visas
You must meet the following criteria to qualify for a skilled visa:- Age: You must be below the age of 45 at the point of application (unless exempted;
- English Language: You should pass a level of competent English where you are required to take certain language test unless you are the citizen of certain countries;
- Meet the skills requirement: Your occupation must be found on the skilled occupational list
- Skilled Assessment: You must obtain skilled assessment from relevant body unless exempted
- Meet the points test of 65 points and above
- Meet the health and character requirements.
1.Australia Skilled Independent Visa
This visa is suitable professionals with unique the skills and qualifications to migration to Australia. No state or employer nomination needed but your occupation must be from the list of eligible occupation listed. See below for the criteria:
- Obtain relevant skills assessment from the relevant body
- Score at least 65 points for your points test
- Your occupation must be from the list of eligible occupation
- You must pass the health and character requirement
2. Australia Skilled Nominated Visa
This is a skilled visa that requires state nomination before you can apply for the visa. Your occupation must also be in the eligible occupation list. See below for a list of criteria:
- Nomination from the state is required
- Obtain relevant skills assessment from the relevant body
- Score at least 65 points for your points test
- Your occupation must be from the list of eligible occupation
- You must pass the health and character requirement
3. Temporary Skill Shortage
Your occupation must be on the skilled occupation or MLTSSL
- You must be nominated by an approved company sponsor;
- Only allowed to work for the nominating sponsor;
- Possess the relevant experience, qualification and employment background to perform the job
- Show proof at least of 2 years of working experience in the nominated occupation
- Obtain relevant skills assessment from the relevant body unless exempted
- You must pass the health and character requirement
- Obtained coverage by health care insurance
4. Australia Temporary Graduate Visa
This visa is suitable recent international graduates that have the skills and qualifications relevant to certain occupations that Australia needs. See below for the requirements:
- Below 50 year-old;
- You are currently holding on to a student visa;
- Meet the Australia study requirement
- Possess the relevant skills and qualification that Australia is in need of
5. Australia Temporary Work Visa
This visa is suitable for candidate that is required to perform highly specialised work in Australia where the skill and knowledge cannot be found in Australia.
- Visa is granted for up to 6 months and cannot be extended
- Work activity should be of temporary nature
- Proof of the applicant has the specialised experience and skills
- Professionals on the film industry can apply for this visa as long as he/she is not involved in the Australian entertainment industry
6. Employer Nomination Scheme Visa
This visa is suitable for those professional who work in an occupation from the eligible list of skilled occupations. Employer nomination is required for this scheme. See below for the requirements:
- You have an occupation relevant to the list of eligible occupations;
- At least 3years of relevant work experience
- May require licensing, registration or membership for your profession for certain state
- Nominated by an Australian company whose business is actively trading;
- Obtain positive skilled assessment unless exempted
